Casa Nalum, Sian Ka'an Biosphere

Casa Nalum is the villa for a group of ten who want the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef in front of the house and someone else running the kitchen. Stays are full board: a gourmet chef handles every meal, spa services come to the villa, and excursions into the reserve are arranged from the door.

The house sits inside the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, the UNESCO-protected coast south of Tulum where the road ends and the landscape takes over. Its private beach faces the reef, a short swim out, and the roof terrace looks both ways: sea in front, lagoon behind. Snorkelling gear is kept at the house and sailing can be arranged from the beach.

Five bedrooms sleep ten. Four have en-suite bathrooms and the master faces the ocean. An infinity pool spreads across the decking between the house and the sand, and the design is eco-minded to keep the villa in step with the reserve around it.

Inside, a formal dining room handles the chef’s dinners and an open-plan living area gives the group a relaxed room to gather in. Large windows frame the reserve on every side.
